One thing we would not recommend is deciding whether oil needs changing purely from its colour. Oil Warning Light vs Service Reminder
These two warnings should not be treated as the same thing. A service reminder generally tells you that scheduled maintenance is approaching or overdue.
An engine oil warning light, particularly an oil-pressure warning, may indicate a different problem and should not simply be dismissed as a reminder to book an ordinary oil change.
If an oil warning appears while driving, especially if it remains illuminated, the safest approach is to stop when appropriate and have the issue investigated rather than continuing to drive and hoping that adding oil will solve it.
